Southern Decadence

Southern Decadence is one of the largest gatherings of gay men in North America, turning New Orleans into a weekend-long playground every Labor Day. It’s not Pride—it’s a choose-your-own-adventure celebration where circuit parties, bead tossing, drag shows, pool parties, beer bashes, and wall-to-wall street parties all compete for your attention. Friends meet up with friends, bars pack out with themed events, and the legendary Sunday Southern Decadence parade winds its way through the French Quarter. Whether you’re in full costume or shorts and a tank, it’s one of the most fun weekends of the year to let loose and live it up. Read some of the highlights from Souther Decadence 2023.
But Southern Decadence isn’t just about nightlife. Many come for the chance to explore the city by day—riding the historic streetcars, taking swamp, cemetery, and plantation tours, or lingering over Cajun and Creole dishes. Sip traditional cocktails, browse art galleries, and discover the city’s deep history before heading back into the party. However you spend it, Southern Decadence is New Orleans at its most vibrant, where every moment has the potential to become a memory.
HomoCulture team will be giving away limited-edition HomoCulture ONE Condoms on Saturday and Sunday in the French Quarter.
