Fall Pride Festivals Worth Taking a Trip For

by Brian Webb  |  Sep 28, 2026  |  Time 4 mins  |

Pride season runs well past summer, with October and November bringing parades, drag shows and parties to destinations around the world. Fall Pride festivals give you plenty of options for another gay getaway, whether you want a few days in the mountains or a week somewhere you can still wear a Speedo.

Banff, Atlanta, Honolulu and Palm Springs all have celebrations ahead. Farther afield, Taiwan and Gran Canaria offer reasons to put in for a longer vacation. You can spend a weekend cheering on local drag performers or cross an ocean for a Pride you have wanted to attend for years.

If summer travel never happened, there is still time. Start with the kind of trip you actually want. A big city weekend with late nights? A beach holiday with Pride in the middle? Traveling with friends is much easier when everyone agrees on that before someone books the flights.

Take Pride to the Mountains

Banff Pride runs October 2–12 in Alberta’s Canadian Rockies. The program includes a downtown march, drag on Lake Minnewanka and a market featuring Bow Valley artists and small businesses. There is plenty to do between nights out, especially if your idea of a good vacation includes getting outdoors.

October in Banff calls for layers, and snow is possible. Pack for the mountains as well as the party. A lake cruise and a drag show sound like an excellent Saturday; freezing through the first half does not.

Make a Weekend of the City

Atlanta Pride takes place October 10–11, while Phoenix Pride has a concert October 10 followed by its parade and festival October 11. Both give you October Pride events to plan a city break around.

Watch the dates in Las Vegas. Its night parade is October 9, and the festival follows October 17. They are on separate weekends, so decide which you want to attend before booking. You can also get more Pride and gay travel stories by email as you work out your fall plans.

Keep the Swimwear Handy

Honolulu Pride holds its parade and festival October 17 in Waikīkī, on Oʻahu. For anyone watching the rain return at home, a trip with beach time between Pride events is an easy sell. Give yourself enough days to enjoy both.

California’s Palm Springs Pride festival runs November 6–8, with free admission and events in downtown outdoor venues. This is a trip where the hotel deserves some thought. If pool time is half the reason you are going, choose somewhere you will enjoy spending the afternoon.

Go Farther for Your Next Pride

Taiwan LGBT+ Pride takes place October 31 in Taipei. Winter Pride follows November 2–8 in Maspalomas, on Spain’s Gran Canaria, with live shows, pool parties and a Pride Walk. Despite the name, that is still a fall trip on a North American calendar.

Then Arctic Pride brings a week of events to Tromsø, Norway, November 9–16, with celebrations in the city centre.

Johannesburg Pride holds its parade and festival October 31 in South Africa. Rio de Janeiro’s Pride parade is November 22 at Copacabana. Both take place during the Southern Hemisphere’s spring. With that much flying involved, consider staying beyond Pride weekend to see more of the destination.

Get to Know the Local Gay Scene

A headline act might persuade you to book, but check what else is happening. Go to a show by a local drag queen. Browse the Pride market. Ask the bartender which night people come out during an ordinary week. Those are ways to get to know a city beyond its annual festival.

Buying from LGBTQ-owned businesses and attending local shows also puts some of your vacation budget into the community you came to visit. Smaller events can be particularly good for meeting people when you are traveling solo.

Find more dates in HomoCulture’s Pride Event Calendar, then check organizers’ schedules before paying for travel. Fall does not automatically mean lower hotel rates. Compare the whole trip, including tickets and airport transfers.
