What Makes Winter Party Festival Special?

A Festival With Purpose

Since its inception in 1994, Winter Party has remained committed to creating a safe and inclusive space for LGBTQ individuals and allies to celebrate. Beyond the music and parties, the festival serves as a fundraiser for vital LGBTQ causes. A significant portion of the proceeds benefits local and national organizations through the LGBTQ+ Equity Fund, a partnership with Our Fund Foundation and The Miami Foundation. Over the years, more than $3.8 million has been donated, directly supporting over 100 community organizations.

Standing Strong Against Challenges

The festival’s setting in Florida adds an extra layer of significance. As the state continues to grapple with anti-LGBTQ rhetoric and policies, Winter Party stands as a powerful counterpoint. According to Kierra Johnson, President of the National LGBTQ Task Force, “We would be remiss not to highlight why the Winter Party Festival remains a thriving cornerstone of queer culture as one of the last remaining community owned circuit parties. Part of the answer lies in the very ground we gather upon. Florida — a state where hateful, anti-LGBTQ rhetoric is rampant and harmful policies are piloted — has become a testing ground for authoritarian strategies designed to suppress our existence. Historically, the policies that take root here are then exported to harm other communities.” The festival’s commitment to advocacy ensures that every ticket sold helps to push forward the fight for justice and equality.
