10 New Year’s Resolutions for Queer Empowerment in 2024

Dec 27, 2023

New Year’s resolutions are great, and this year we should consider those that could help the overall community! Every year many of us make resolutions to try and better ourselves. These may typically range from weight loss and hitting the gym, to reading more books. Many resolutions tend to revolve around the self. If this helps you on your journey, more power to you!

However, it wouldn’t hurt to make resolutions that can help our community. This year, instead of the typical resolutions, let’s focus on resolutions that will empower queer individuals and make the community stronger. This way we can inspire positive change in both personal and collective ways!

1. Amplify Queer Voices

In 2024, let’s make a resolution to amplify queer voices like never before. By sharing their stories, experiences, and art of LGBTQ+ individuals we can wield the power of our voices to drive change. Each story told and every piece of art celebrated can make a significant impact on raising awareness and acceptance.

It’s a commitment to creating a world where every LGBTQ+ individual’s unique narrative is not just heard but celebrated. We are adding fabulous hues to the tapestry of our shared human experience.

2. Advocate for Inclusivity

In the year ahead, let’s resolve to be fierce advocates for inclusivity. It’s our collective responsibility to help cultivate an inclusive atmosphere in every corner of our lives. From the workplace to our social circles. By championing open dialogue, education, and wholeheartedly embracing diversity, we can build a society where everyone is not simply tolerated.

They should be truly embraced for their individuality. This commitment ensures that every person feels valued and welcomed, leading to a more equal and harmonious world for all.

3. Resolutions to Mentor the Youth

It’s important that we extend a helping hand and make mentorship a priority in our resolutions. Offering mentorship to younger queer individuals who may be grappling with their identity or career can be huge for many. It’s a transformative act of support. By sharing our experiences and knowledge, we can help empower them.

They can gain the tools to help them navigate the unique challenges they may encounter. Together, we can ensure that the next generation of LGBTQ+ individuals grows stronger and more confident. It’s up to us to help them be better equipped to overcome the obstacles on their path to self-discovery.

4. Support Queer Businesses

A great New Years resolution that can help many is supporting small, queer businesses. We can harness the power of our wallets to promote positive change and economic empowerment within the LGBTQ+ community. Making a conscious effort to support queer-owned businesses and artists in our communities is a resolution that holds tremendous potential.

Your patronage not only bolsters the financial well-being of these entrepreneurs and creators but also sends a clear message of solidarity. By investing in these businesses, we ensure their continued growth and success. This ultimately contributes to a more vibrant and resilient LGBTQ+ community! It’s an opportunity to turn everyday transactions into acts of advocacy, fostering economic empowerment that benefits us all.

5. Resolutions that Promote Mental Health and Wellness

This New Year let’s place a spotlight on mental health and wellness as a fundamental part of our resolutions. It’s vital to prioritize our mental well-being and extend that support to others within the queer community.

By sharing resources and support networks, we can create a nurturing environment that ensures the emotional and psychological well-being of LGBTQ+ individuals. This resolution is a testament to our commitment to the holistic health of our community.  Ensuring that no one feels alone in their journey toward mental wellness.

6. Advocate for LGBTQ+ Rights

Getting involved in local or national advocacy groups and initiatives that champion LGBTQ+ rights and equality is a potent resolution! Your voice and actions can be catalysts for change, actively shaping a more inclusive and equitable society for all.

By taking a stand, we ensure that the path to justice and acceptance is clear. It is paved with our unwavering dedication to a brighter future! It’s important to advocate and use our voice for those who can’t.

7. Resolutions to Educate Yourself and Others

Making a commitment to educate ourselves and others about the LGBTQ+ community could be paramount! Dedicating time to learning about queer history, struggles, and  achievements within the community can foster greater understanding and acceptance.

Sharing this knowledge with those around us is a small yet significant step towards building a more inclusive society. When we empower ourselves with the wisdom of the past, we’re better equipped to pave the way for a future filled with empathy, respect, and solidarity.

8. Celebrate Intersectionality

It’s important we recognize and celebrate the intersectionality of the queer community. Let’s acknowledge that the LGBTQ+ experience varies greatly based on race, gender, and other identities. Be an ally for those who face multiple forms of discrimination and make sure everyone is welcome and seen.

9. Create Safe Spaces

Let’s prioritize the creation of safe and welcoming spaces for queer individuals this 2024. Whether it’s within our homes, workplaces, or social gatherings, it’s essential that everyone feels respected for who they are.

This resolution underscores the significance of nurturing environments where individuals of all identities can thrive without fear of discrimination. Together, we can build a more inclusive world where being true to oneself is celebrated and embraced.

10. Resolutions to Promote Self-Care

Most resolutions tend to orbit things like weight loss, diets, and the eventual glow-up. However it’s important to focus on true self care. Not only for our personal well-being but also for our capacity to be advocates and allies within the queer community. Encouraging self-care that revolves around self-love, self-acceptance, and growth is a resolution that allows us to replenish our inner strength.

Remember, by taking care of ourselves, we become better-equipped advocates! We’re more resilient allies, and beacons of hope for the LGBTQ+ community. In nurturing our own self-worth, we empower ourselves to lift others higher and drive positive change in the world.

By embracing these resolutions, you could be a force of empowerment and positive change! Not only for yourself but the wider LGBTQ+ community in the year ahead. These commitments are a testament to our collective mission of celebrating diversity and standing together.

We should always be persistently working towards a world that is not only inclusive but also deeply accepting. Let’s continue making amazing progress, each of us contributing to a more vibrant, tolerant, and harmonious world. A world where everyone can be their authentic selves.
