10 Quick Ways to Get Through A Breakup

by | Mar 26, 2024

Spring is here, which marks the beginning of uncuffing season. Breaking up with someone isn’t easy, especially if you’re the one that is being dumped. Breakups are filled with emotions and can be painful, even for the strongest individuals. Self-esteem, trust, and confidence are often low. Knowing the right ways to get through a breakup is key to moving on, quickly, so you can find happiness once again. Here are 10 quick ways you can get through a breakup:

1. Let Out All Your Emotions

The healing process begins when you get out your emotions. Find a quiet, private space where you can talk and express your emotions openly a close friend. Your BFF is your strongest support system you can rely on. Instead of sending regrettable texts to your ex at 3am, write your feelings down. Getting it off your chest will help make you feel better. Most importantly, don’t be afraid to let the tears flow. The worst thing you can do is rant and rage on social media.

2. Take a Time-Out

Go to the grocery store and buy all your favourite comfort foods, then go home and lock the door. Have a real Netflix and chill night, by yourself. It’ll give you time to decompress and begin the acceptance process. Ice cream, candy, and cookies can work wonders! Take a social and social media break – turn everything off so you can have time to reflect and figure out what is important for you, and your future.

3. Pack It Up

Go through your entire house, including the closets, the bathroom, and drawers, and pack everything of your ex’s into a box. Get their items back to them right away. If you can’t do it yourself, as a mutual friend to come pick it up and deliver it. The faster you do this, the easier it’ll be to move on. Having these items around are unnecessary and constant reminders. Get rid of them.

4. Focus On Yourself

You’re an awesome person. Get out there and do things that you are passionate about and love to do. Rediscover your hobbies and interests. Pamper yourself with self-care, like candle-lit spa night at home. It’s a great way to boost your confidence and feel good about yourself.

5. Surround Yourself With Positive Energy

Friends will always help you get through the hard times. Get a group together and head to the beach, play trivia at a local pub, go to drag brunch, or sing your hearts out at karaoke. It’s good to be with people who appreciate your company and can cheer you up.

6. Head Out on an Adventure

An adventure will get you out experiencing new things, or re-experiencing things you are love but haven’t had a chance to do in a long time. It could be mountain biking, a road trip, or laying on the beach in Mexico. Whatever you choose to do, make sure that you’re doing it for you. It should be something big and bold, that you’ll come back and have incredible, fun, and exciting stories that you can share and brag about to your friends and family.

7. Head to the Gym

Exercise is good for both your physical and mental health, and a revenge body will make you burst with confidence. Physical activity including walking, biking, hiking, the gym, kayaking, rollerblading, yoga, or whatever you choose, will help get your blood flowing and take your mind off other things. It’ll also help you get a better night’s sleep, instead of lying awake with your thoughts.

8. Get a Mini Makeover

There’s no better way to start fresh like getting a mini makeover. Maybe you change up your hairstyle, buy some new outfits, or spend the day at the spa. It’ll help rejuvenate your self-esteem and physical appearance. It’s a clear sign you’re ready to move forward and put the past behind you.

9. Set New Goals

Going from a relationship to being single means that life priorities will have to change. This is a great opportunity to set new goals that are in-line with your personal life plans. You’re in soul control of your destiny. Remember to keep your goals time-bound, attainable, measurable, and realistic.

10. Change up Your Routine

An easy way to get out of the post-breakup rut is by changing your routine and doing things differently. This doesn’t mean you have to change everything; a small shift and change will shake things up. Try drinking tea for a week instead of coffee, going to the gym before work instead of after, or make a point of answering all your messages before you go to bed.
